An investigation into the role and impact that carers play in consultations between healthcare professionals and people with MS
Langdon D et al. 2020
This poster was presented virtually at the annual congress of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS) in 2020. It showcases insights gained from a 14-question survey developed by MS in the 21st Century, aiming to better understand the role and impact of caregiver attendance on consultations and disease management. The survey was shared with healthcare professionals, people with multiple sclerosis (PwMS) and caregiver audiences to showcase how these perspectives may differ or overlap. Results indicated that caregiver attendance can have a positive impact on consultations and PwMS engagement with care, but it is ultimately a personal choice that not all PwMS are comfortable with. Furthermore, the provision of additional caregiver-specific support and information in clinics was highlighted as potentially beneficial in helping caregivers in their role.
